Countywide : 10 Post Offices to Accept Tax Returns
Last-minute tax filers will find special collection boxes outside 10 Ventura County post offices today, the deadline for filing returns, a spokeswoman with the U. S. Postal Service said.
All mail deposited in the boxes before midnight will receive an April 15 cancellation.
Postage will be sold from vending machines at nine of the post offices, with counter service extended until midnight at the main Oxnard Post Office, 1961 N. C St., spokeswoman Mary Frink said.
She emphasized the need for taxpayers to place the correct postage on their returns because neither the federal Internal Revenue Service nor state Franchise Tax Board will accept returns with insufficient postage.
Postage costs 29 cents for the first ounce and 23 cents for each additional ounce up to 11 ounces.
Frink said the Postal Service expects to process a third more mail today in Ventura County than on an average day.
Post offices with distinctively marked tax return collection boxes are:
* Camarillo, 2150 Pickwick Drive.
* Port Hueneme, 560 E. Pleasant Valley Road.
* Ojai, 201 E. Ojai Ave.
* Oxnard General Mail Facility, 2900 Colonia Road.
* Oxnard Main Office, 1961 N. C St.
* Oxnard Saviers, 2532 Saviers Road.
* Santa Paula, 111 S. Mill St.
* Simi Valley, 2551 N. Galena Ave.
* East Ventura, 41 S. Wake Forest Ave.
* Ventura, 675 E. Santa Clara St.
