Procrastinators will have a few extra hours today to get their income tax returns in to be postmarked by the April 15 filing deadline, as five post offices throughout San Diego County extend their hours.

Ernie Gheler, information clerk at the city’s main post office at 2535 Midway Drive, said workers at that station will be outside until midnight to take tax returns from drivers. The post office opens at 7 a.m.

Four other post offices in the county will remain open until 10 p.m. Their addresses are: 750 3rd Ave., Chula Vista; 401 W. Lexington Ave., El Cajon; 203 S. Orange, Escondido, and 221 Brooks St., Oceanside. They all open at 8:30 a.m.
