Albert Lindemann’s book, “The Jews Accused,” as reviewed by Steve Oney, sounds like a particularly malignant case of blaming the victim.

The Jew-hater--like any bigot--is invariably an inept, psychologically warped individual, miserable at the core, who casts about for scapegoats in order to rationalize his own inadequacy. He will hate the Jew whether the Jew is weak or strong, communist or capitalist, assimilationist or black-robed Hasid. Seeking answers for his pathology in terms of Jewish behaviors and attitudes is akin to trying to understand rape by analyzing women’s fashions. . . .
