Davis Love III on Sunday became the first golfer to win the Heritage Classic three times and only the second to do so consecutively.

Love shot a final-round three-under-par 68 in intermittent rain for a 72-hole total of 15-under 269 and a four-stroke victory over Chip Beck at Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head, S.C.

Beck, who began the day four shots behind, made a brief run on the final nine holes, pulling to within two strokes. Beck also shot a 68 for 273.

Nick Price was third at 274 after his second consecutive 66.

Love has won two of his last three tournaments and has finished in the top eight in five of his last six. He earned $180,000 for his victory and is second on the money list to Fred Couples.

“I’ve won one in a year a couple times,” Love said. “A lot of guys win one every year or one every couple of years. It sure feels great, especially this early in the year, to get two in one year.”

Lee Trevino salvaged a one-under-par 71 from the water and won the PGA Seniors Championship by one stroke at 278, 10 under par, at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The victory was Trevino’s third of the season and his second in a row. It was his 13th since joining the senior tour two years ago.

It was worth $100,000 and pushed his earnings for the season to $397,299, atop the tour list.

Mike Hill, playing with Trevino, missed only one green in a round of 69 and was second at 279. Chi Chi Rodriguez was third at 280.

A 12-foot birdie putt on the 10th hole gave Trevino a one-stroke lead, but he followed with a shot into the water on the 11th and made double bogey, handing the lead to Rodriguez.

Trevino regained a tie for the top with a 20-foot putt on the 13th and had the top spot alone again when Rodriguez mis-clubbed and hit a six-iron in the water on the 15th. Par putts of 12 feet on the 17th hole and eight feet on the 18th gave Trevino the championship.

Dottie Mochrie shot a two-under-par 70, good for a 72-hole score of 11-under-par 277 and a one-stroke victory in the SEGA Women’s Championship at Stockbridge, Ga.

Mochrie, who also won the Dinah Shore last month, appeared to be in a little trouble on the 18th hole when her second shot carried over the green and stopped among television cables.

After two drops rolled closer to the hole, she was allowed to place the ball 35 feet from the cup, from where she chipped to within eight inches. That set up the birdie she needed to win $90,000.

Danielle Ammaccapane finished one shot behind with a 70 when she tapped in a three footer for birdie on the final hole.
