Coin Redesign
How discouraging to read that someone is actually thinking about redesigning our money (“Cranston Given No Quarter on Coin Redesign,” April 9) but feels the need to reassure us that the new artwork would not tamper with the inscription “In God We Trust.” Nothing gives the lie to our supposed separation of church and state more than this insidious inscription on our money. If there is to be a redesign, the principal reason should be the eradication of this phrase.
