A murder charge was filed Monday against an Antelope Valley man in connection with the death of a transient in Lancaster last month, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

The body of Darwin Craig Cummings was found March 24 at 80th Street East, half a mile north of Avenue E, by a man who was looking for aluminum cans, Deputy Bill Martin said.

Cummings apparently died of a gunshot wound to the head.

James Tindell, 28, will be arraigned on a murder charge today, Martin said. Tindell was already in custody for another crime.
