GARDEN GROVE : Assembly Candidates Will Tape Debate

Share

Three Republican incumbent Assembly members, all running now for the same seat, will tape an hourlong debate Saturday for later broadcast on cable television.

Incumbents Doris Allen (R-Cypress), Nolan Frizzelle (R-Fountain Valley) and Tom Mays (R-Huntington Beach) are competing in the June 2 primary for the Republican nomination for the 67th Assembly District seat. The race is considered one of the most dramatic in the state.

Allen, Frizzelle and Mays will tape their debate in the Garden Grove television studios of Paragon Cable. The cable system will broadcast the program at different times on Thursday, May 3, May 7 and May 10.

Newspaper reporters will ask questions during the first half of the taped session, and the three candidates will engage in open discussion during the second half. Bob Nash, a Paragon producer, will moderate the program.

“The primary election season is so short, it’s difficult for voters to learn enough about the various candidates to distinguish one from the other,” Nash said. “This program will help fill that void--and in a very interesting way.”
