SPLIT DECISION: The International CD Exchange (ICE) newsletter is reporting that an apparent falling out between George Harrison and Eric Clapton has left Clapton a diminished presence on the upcoming live Harrison album recorded when the two toured Japan recently. The May issue of ICE quotes an internal Warner Bros. Records memo stating, “Eric Clapton’s name and likeness can be no larger than any other sideman’s” on the album credits.

“From (the start) it was a Harrison record, not a Clapton record,” responded Bob Merlis, Warner Bros. vice president of publicity. “He was always supposed to just be treated as a member of the backing band. This is more like truth in advertising, not a falling out. I’m quite sure there hasn’t been any falling out.”
