Debate Over Workers’ Comp System Rages On

The recommendation for a 23% increase in workers comp rates is just one more nail in the coffin of California business.

It is difficult enough, in this economy, for an employer to compete, meet the payroll, rent and other expenses without having to pay for false claims generated by greedy employees and unscrupulous attorneys and doctors.

Many claimants lost their jobs because of incompetence, dishonesty or indifference. Most of these cases are represented by the same lawyers and doctors, so they are quite obvious.

The insurers do not seem to want to fight such claims because of legal costs, so they pay and raise the premium or cancel your policy.

Bureaucrats and politicians must learn to respect business’s contribution to the economic welfare of the state. Without good, competitive businesses we shall surely become a Third World country with little hope for the future.
