Showcase House Opens Today; Benefits Children’s Society
The Showcase House of Design, sponsored by several San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire auxiliaries of the Children’s Home Society of California, opens today in Upland.
The home, a 19th-Century, American Colonial revival at 1894 Euclid Ave., has had a series of prominent owners since it was built in 1895. It is believed that architect Homer W. Glidden renovated the interior in 1911.
The fund-raiser is staged by these society auxiliaries: Casa Alegre of Upland; Casa Ninos of San Bernardino/Rialto; Bonne Meres of Redlands; Para Ninos of Riverside; Claremont; Cradle Guild of San Dimas/Walnut, and Les Guardiens of Diamond Bar.
The society provides adoption and foster care services, respite care for families of handicapped children, pregnancy and child-parent counseling, group home care, day care, single-parent outreach and public education.
The showcase house will be open through May 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. Tickets are $10.
