No Degree: Speaking of “Six Degrees of Separation,” the man whose scam inspired that John Guare play has lost a bid to share in the play’s proceeds. A New York Supreme Court judge has dismissed David Hampton’s lawsuit in which he sought $100 million from Guare, Lincoln Center, Random House and MGM, claiming they had violated his right of publicity. Hampton already has served a prison sentence for his hoax in which he posed as Sidney Poitier’s son and as the friend of several New York socialites’ children.
