Duarte : Animal Fees May Be Raised
Pet licensing and impound fees will be increased under an ordinance that won tentative approval from the City Council on Tuesday.
If enacted, the license fee for cats and dogs would increase from $10 to $20, payable annually on July 1. Fees for spayed or neutered pets would go from $5 to $10.
In addition, the ordinance will increase the charge for picking up and impounding any dog or cat slightly, to $15 for the first instance, $30 for the second instance and $45 for any subsequent impound.
A public hearing on the changes has been scheduled for the council’s May 26 meeting.
