Master Chorale Season Announced

The 29th season of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, conducted by Paul Salamunovich, features the premiere of a new piece by Lalo Schifrin, paired with Ariel Ramirez’ “Misa Criolla” Nov. 14. It begins Oct. 17 with Taneyev’s “John of Damascus,” Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater and the Missa Brevis by Kodaly.

The season ends June 4, 1993, with the local premiere of Dominick Argento’s Te Deum, matched with Durufle’s Requiem, on a concert tied to the Chorus America National Conference June 2--5, which the Master Chorale will host.

Other concerts are the annual “Messiah” sing-alongs Dec. 11 and 20, a holiday program Dec. 12 accompanied by the Solid Brass ensemble, an a cappella concert March 7, and a British program May 2, 1993. The Master Chorale will also present the male chamber choir Chanticleer April 4. All concerts will be given at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
