A Warm Weekend Predicted

The weekend weather in San Diego County is expected to be nearly perfect, with warm temperatures and few clouds, a forecaster said.

On Thursday, the high temperature at Lindbergh Field tied the all-time record of 76 degrees for this date, set in 1943, the National Weather Service said.

The unseasonably warm weather is due in part to the El Nino effect, which has warmed the ocean temperatures to nearly 70 degrees at county beaches, said Wilbur Shigehara, chief forecaster for the National Weather Service in San Diego.

The warm ocean prevents clouds from forming, allowing the sunshine to raise temperatures throughout the county, Shigehara said.

Though the days will be awash in sunshine this weekend, there may be limited fog and low clouds in the early morning, Shigehara said.

At the beaches, the highs should peak at near 76 all weekend.

Highs near 80 are expected in the coastal area this weekend, with lows from 58 to 64, Shigehara said.

Inland, the high should peak at 85 today and Saturday, and possibly reach 90 on Sunday. The inland low will be in the 52-to-60 degree range.

In the mountains, the temperature will climb to to a high of 75 degrees, and the low will fall to 45 degrees this weekend, Shigehara said.

The deserts can expect high temperatures of 100 degrees and low temperatures of 60 degrees.
