*** Miracle Legion, “Drenched,” Morgan Creek. They Might Be Giants without the wise-guy twists? Violent Femmes without the eternal growing pains? Sounds pointless, and at first so does this album. But the veteran New York band’s energetic skiffle-punk should hook you long enough to find that there are smarts and pains there after all; they’re just subtle. The band will be at The Whiskey May 19.
