*** 1/2 Kriss Kross, “Totally Krossed Out,” Columbia. This pair of streetwise, pubescent Atlanta rappers--Mack Daddy, 13, and Daddy Mack, 12--have come up with a dazzling debut album. Unlike other kiddie groups, they have a hard edge, coming across almost as naughty as Naughty by Nature, and spunkier and funkier than Another Bad Creation. The catchy, buoyant hit single “Jump,” boasting some snappy rapping, is high quality--like just about everything on the album.
New albums are rated on a scale of one asterisk (poor) to four (excellent).
