Politicians Behind Illegal Aliens’ Plight
- Share via
The news media in Southern California continues to monitor the illegal-immigrant fatality rate at the INS checkpoint on Interstate 5. It is tragic whenever a person loses his or her life needlessly on the nation’s freeways. Is the annual loss of life to American motorists any less tragic? Clinically speaking, there is an American fatally injured every 12 minutes.
The interesting thing is that American motorists have every right to use the freeways their respective taxes helped purchase, whereas illegal immigrants are violating the law by definition and again violating additional laws by crossing busy and dangerous freeways.
So what’s the point? The motorists traveling Interstate 5 between San Clemente (and the checkpoint) are not the problem, nor are the illegal immigrants. The problem is that industry and business want these folks here for cheap labor (a modern variation of slavery). If the U.S. government truly wanted to control its sovereign borders, there wouldn’t be more than a million people entering this country on an annual basis.
