Fox and His Friends (Bravo Monday at 8 p.m., Tuesday at 1 a.m.) Superb 1975 R.W. Fassbinder film, a classic tale of a naive proletarian (played by Fassbinder himself) destroyed by a bourgeois snob; it is given particular mordancy by being set in a homosexual milieu so well observed as to be universal.

Black Rainbow (TMC Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., again at 9) Mike Hodges’ 1989 psychic-thriller with ecological undertones is one of the most original independent films of recent years. Rosanna Arquette, in her best role to date, is a commanding presence as a young medium who develops terrifying powers of prophecy. With Tom Hulce and Jason Robards.

Deadhead Miles (A&E; Friday at 11 a.m., Saturday at 1 a.m.) Practically nobody has seen Vernon Zimmerman’s offbeat, largely unreleased 1972 road film starring Alan Arkin as a trucker. Written with Terrence Malick, it is a true rarity, an uneven yet engaging film featuring a large cast that includes Bruce Bennett, Ida Lupino and George Raft in addition to Hector Elizondo, Loretta Swit, Charles Durning and many others.

Rashomon and Throne of Blood (KCET Saturday at 9 and 10:30 p.m, respectively). Two Kurosawa classics: The first is the landmark period tale which told of the purported rape of a noblewoman while traveling in a forest from four different points of view; the second is a reworking of “Macbeth” as a highly stylized Noh drama. Both star Toshiro Mifune.
