COUNTYWIDE : Low Bus-Fare Day Offered to Drivers

Share

South Coast Area Transit officials are hoping to lure drivers into riding the bus on Thursday by offering 25-cent bus fares to celebrate “Don’t Drive Alone Day.”

The reduced fare will be good in all SCAT service areas. Regular fare is 75 cents for adults, 60 cents for students and 30 cents for seniors and the handicapped.

“Don’t Drive Alone Day” is part of Clean Air Week and is sponsored by the American Lung Assn. “The more people we can get out of cars and into buses, the less smog and less congestion and less wear and tear on roads,” said Al Urias, chairman of the SCAT board of directors.
