CAMARILLO : Forum on Hospital Merger Rescheduled
A public forum on the proposed merger of Pleasant Valley Hospital and St. John’s Regional Medical Center has been rescheduled from Tuesday to June 9, hospital officials said.
Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo is sponsoring the forum, during which a panel of health care experts will discuss industry trends and the proposed merger with St. John’s in Oxnard. Board members and administrators from both hospitals will be on hand to answer questions.
The Camarillo Health Care District conducted a forum in April that was attended by nearly 250 Camarillo residents and physicians.
After that forum, district board members agreed to consider a request by many residents to stall the merger by seizing control of Pleasant Valley by eminent domain.
The district board plans to meet with Pleasant Valley board members to ask permission to audit the hospital’s financial records. The board also wants to evaluate the hospital’s contentions that the merger will save Camarillo’s only hospital from financial downfall in the future.
