THOUSAND OAKS : 14 Houses Evacuated Because of Gas Leak
Fourteen houses were evacuated in Thousand Oaks on Sunday when a gas line was accidentally severed, authorities said.
No one was injured, and residents were allowed to return home after about three hours, said Cece Grives, dispatcher for the Ventura County Fire Department.
Construction workers accidentally cut into a 2-inch natural gas line at Capitan and Cypress streets about 10:40 a.m., Grives said. Authorities evacuated houses in the area and allowed residents back into their homes after firefighters stopped the gas leak, Grives said.
