BURBANK : Airport Concession Contract Awarded

Share

The Burbank Airport Authority on Monday awarded a Burbank company a contract to operate food and beverage concessions at the airport worth about $21 million over the next 10 years.

The authority voted 6 to 2 to name Metropolitan Culinary Services the primary concessionaire at the airport, replacing Host International, which has been the concessionaire since July, 1987.

Mark Hardyment, airport manager for contracts and property, said Host International has earned about $3 million a year as primary concessionaire.

Although Host International was required to pay the airport $800,000 from its profits annually, Metropolitan will pay $750,000 each year. Metropolitan will also pay $151,000 in rent annually, the same as its predecessor.

Host International applied for the contract but dropped out of the competition at an early stage, officials said.
