Sisco’s Five RBIs Lead Titans Past UCLA

Steve Sisco had two hits and drove in five runs as Cal State Fullerton beat UCLA, 10-5, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles.

Sisco had a three-run triple in the first inning as the Titans (36-14) opened a 3-0 lead.

He came back with a two-run single in the seventh as Fullerton scored four times to take a 9-2 lead.

Jim Betzsold had a two-run home run in the inning as well for Fullerton, which is ranked seventh in the Baseball America poll. It was his fifth home run this season.

UCLA (32-20) is ranked 21st in the same poll.

Phil Nevin hit his 20th home run this season, a solo shot in the fifth that gave him 37 homers in his career. The junior third baseman is now tied with Keith Kaub (1988) for fifth on the single-season list and is sixth on the Titan career home run list.

Bob Caffrey hit 28 home runs for the Titan single-season mark in 1984, and Mark Pirruccello (1979-82) has the highest career total with 50.

Freshman Mike Parisi (3-1) allowed two runs in four innings to earn the victory for the Titans.

Fullerton, which is in second place in the Big West Conference, concludes the regular season this weekend with a three-game series at San Jose State.
