Alabama Coach Accused of Hitting Woman
Alabama basketball Coach Wimp Sanderson has been accused of hitting a female assistant.
Athletic Director Hootie Ingram said Thursday that the university is investigating the accusation, but he wouldn’t identify the woman.
Sanderson declined comment.
“We have received a report alleging that Coach Sanderson struck a subordinate,” said Dale Allison, spokeswoman for the university. “We are conducting an inquiry into the matter and are following the university’s process for investigating such complaints.”
Sanderson, 54, has been at Alabama for 32 years, the first two decades as an assistant. In March, he became the winningest coach in school history and has an overall record of 267-119.
