Could I really believe my eyes? Armored vehicles driving up the freeway into L.A.? Was this really happening on a bright, sunny day in May?
My memory turned back to those days in 1946 when, as a child, I saw the same thing happening in England. Only then, we were at war, in the midst of a conflict. This time, the vehicles were rolling into the city, to prevent more destruction and bloodshed.
How can we prevent it from happening in the future? As a democracy, the answer lies in our hands . . .
