The effort to get Fallbrook voters to approve bonds for a high school (“Voters Get an Education on Bond Issues” April 14, 1992) harks me back to 1936, a time of still lingering Depression.

Nonetheless, more than two-thirds of Glendale voters approved bonds for a new community college campus. What turned the tide were the students. They voluntarily organized into teams that canvassed the entire city, even though they would be long gone from the school by the time its new home was built.
