Norwegian Atle Kvalsvoll won the sixth stage of the Tour Du Pont and Stephen Swart of New Zealand overtook teammate Dave Mann and Greg LeMond for the overall lead. Kvalsvoll, a teammate of LeMond, used his climbing skill to overtake countryman Dag-Otto Lauritzen in the last half-mile en route to winning the 150.3-mile road race through Virginia.
