Weekend Weather Forecast Promises More of the Same

If the weekend forecast sounds familiar, it’s because weather forecasters have been saying the same thing all week: night and morning low clouds followed by afternoon sunshine.

A stagnant high-pressure system has helped to make the weather predictable but enjoyable, said Elizabeth Page, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in San Diego.

The high-pressure system over the region has forced any incoming foul weather north, leaving San Diego basking in sunshine, Page said.

The sunny skies created unseasonably warm temperatures during the week. The high temperature at Lindbergh Field near downtown Thursday was 73 degrees, about 4 degrees above normal, Page said. The warm temperatures are expected to last through the weekend, she said.

At the beaches, the high temperatures this weekend should be near 72 degrees, Page said. The ocean water temperature will be 67 degrees, and the surf will crest at 2 to 4 feet, she said.

In the coastal area, the temperatures may reach 77 degrees this weekend. The low temperatures will dip to about 63 degrees, Page said.

High temperatures near 80 degrees are expected in the inland areas, with lows in the 50s, Page said.

The deserts will have a high temperature between 97 and 105 degrees this weekend. The weather service expects desert winds between 8 m.p.h. and 15 m.p.h. in the afternoons this weekend. At night, the temperatures will fall to about 62 degrees.

The mountains will have highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s, Page said.
