Pittsburgh Penguin star Mario Lemieux, initially expected to miss the rest of the NHL playoffs with a broken left hand, could return midway through the Wales Conference finals against the Boston Bruins.
Lemieux skated Friday with a small, plastic cast on his broken hand and shot with both hands on his stick. He previously could shoot with only one hand. Game 5 is scheduled for next Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
Lemieux was injured in Game 2 of the Patrick Division finals against the New York Rangers.
