Sierra Madre : Council Gets Budget Plan

Share

A preliminary $4.6-million, 1992-93 budget was presented to the City Council last week, but the council is expected to cut $90,046 to meet expected revenue of about $4.5 million.

Capital projects planned in the budget include improving Orange Grove Avenue and the city’s water distribution system.

Cutbacks in capital projects and the fact that only 4% of the budget is expected to come from sales taxes means no personnel cuts are expected, Assistant City Manager Sean Joyce said.

A special council meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall to discuss revenues.

Budget matters also will be addressed at the May 26 regular council meeting and a June 9 public hearing.

Adoption of the budget is planned for June 23.
