A surge of worldwide interest in commodities trading has benefited the Ken Roberts Co., an Ojai publisher of home-study courses on investing in commodities markets.

Jack Jenkins, general manager, said business is up 50% from last year at this time and that by February, operations will be spread over three locations in Ojai. The firm, which has 30 employees, is privately held and does not disclose its revenues.

In July, the Roberts concern will move from its present location on Signal Street to a remodeled building on Bryant Place. In October, a second building, on Topa Topa Street, will be occupied, Jenkins said. He said the third building is on Bryant Place.

Most of the material published by the company is written by the firm’s president, Ken Roberts, whom Jenkins described as a veteran commodities trader.

“Commodities are a viable financial instrument, but, as in any other market, you have to know what you’re doing,” Jenkins said.
