BELL CANYON : Worker Who Died in Fall Is Identified
A man who fell down a 300-foot ravine to his death while driving a backhoe was identified Tuesday as David Boots of Simi Valley, a coroner’s official said.
Boots, 36, was operating the backhoe Monday on property on North Saddlebow Road in Bell Canyon, southeast of Simi Valley, when he fell into the ravine, said deputy coroner Jim Wingate.
No one witnessed the accident, which occurred shortly after 4 p.m., he said.
The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries, Wingate said.
It took county fire rescuers several hours to retrieve the body from the steep ravine, he said.
Boots is survived by two children in Alabama, Wingate said.
