The Region : Youth Agency to Close

Share

The board of directors of the Foothill Youth Services Project voted unanimously Wednesday to dissolve the agency because of the loss of its sources of local financial support.

The agency, created in 1980 to provide free counseling for troubled youths, will close its doors July 1.

The cities of Burbank, Glendale and La Canada Flintridge, and the Glendale and La Canada school districts, at one time contributed about one-third of the agency’s annual budget of about $100,000. They all dropped their contributions over the past year, citing the need for budget cuts and the existence of other programs to help youngsters who have emotional problems or are in trouble with the law.
