La Mirada : Financial Problems Cause Medical Center to Close

Share

The 145-bed Medical Center of La Mirada, which has been mired in financial problems for several years, shut its doors Sunday.

Officials said the emergency room closed Sunday, and other services were discontinued Friday after remaining patients were transferred to other area hospitals or were discharged. The hospital was La Mirada’s only acute care facility.

Nu-Med Inc., which operates the hospital, described the closure as temporary and said the facility will be reopened at an undetermined date by Nu-Med or by new owners. The company has been seeking a buyer for some time.
