World IN BRIEF : IRAQ : U.N.-Drawn Border Deplored

Iraq’s Parliament condemned a new Iraq-Kuwait border established by the United Nations. It said the border commission established by the Security Council after the Gulf War has no basis in international law. Lawmakers object to the commission’s decision to draw the boundary in a manner favorable to Kuwait, giving it 10 new oil wells and an abandoned Iraqi naval base.
