Sony to Join Bid for British TV Channel: Sony Pictures Entertainment said it would be part of an investment group that would make a “powerful bid” for a new fifth TV channel in Britain. The Culver City-based company will join with Thames TV, CanWest Global Communications and Primetime in a consortium called FiveTV that is seeking a license to operate the fifth TV channel.
