Volker Weidler of Germany drove a Lola T92-50 to victory in an Formula 3000 car race marred by the death of a Japanese driver after a crash on the 27th lap at Suzuka, Japan.
Hiroshi Ogawa’s car collided with that of British driver Andrew Scott and then hit a fence. Ogawa, 36, died later in a hospital.
