BOYLE HEIGHTS : Man Pleads Not Guilty in Gang Counselor Killing
An alleged gang member pleaded not guilty Tuesday to murder charges in connection with the execution-style shooting of a well-known Boyle Heights gang intervention worker.
Jose Gilbert Gonzales, 29, was charged with one count of murder with the special circumstance of laying in wait and one count of personal use of a firearm. He was ordered held without bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 6.
Ana Lizarraga, 49, a counselor with Community Youth Gang Services, was gunned down May 13 by two masked men as she stood on her driveway.
