Tony Wong, president of Kanow and Wong Engineering Services of Rosemead, has been awarded the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 1992 Minority Lifetime Achievement Award.

Wong, of Monterey Park, is on that city’s Planning Commission and is active in the Rotary Club and the Asian Business Assn. His company, founded in 1983 and also known as KaWES, handles private and public projects in land development, transportation, traffic and surveying.

In a statement, Wong said his success “should not be interpreted to say that all Asians or all minorities are doing well. There is a growing recognition among small minority business persons that if we are to survive and compete, we need to pool our know-how and resources.”
