The Los Angeles chapter of the Alzheimer’s Assn. has named Lillian Wireman of Lancaster the winner of its first Outstanding Adult Day Care Worker Award. Wireman, who was chosen from applicants from the Los Angeles County’s 48 day-care centers, is an activities aide in the program run by the Visiting Nurse Assn. at the Lutheran Church of the Master in Lancaster. Richard Winsor, head of the day-care center, said Wireman is very knowledgeable about the disease and is particularly skilled in working with the elderly and people with cognitive impairments. Wireman was honored at the association’s seventh annual awards luncheon in Beverly Hills earlier this month.
