PANORAMA CITY : Man Convicted of Killing 2 Neighbors
- Share via
A Van Nuys Superior Court jury Wednesday found a Panorama City man guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for killing two of his neighbors outside their apartment building as the couple’s 8-year-old daughter watched.
The penalty phase to determine whether Pedro Antonio Pacheco, 25, should be sentenced to death or life in prison without the possibility of parole begins Monday.
Pacheco was convicted of shooting Oscar Ernesto Sanchez, 33, and his wife, Coralia Angelica Duran Sanchez, 30, from his second-story apartment in January, 1991, while the couple waited in their pickup truck to leave the gated parking lot of the building in the 8100 block of Langdon Avenue.
The Sanchez’s daughter, Jeimy, was in the truck with the couple, but was not injured.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Lea Purwin D’Agostino said Pacheco killed the couple because of a dispute over unpaid bills when they all shared an apartment a few months earlier.
