PacTel Acquires Vehicle-Tracking Firm: Pacific Telesis Group’s PacTel Corp. subsidiary said it has acquired International Teletrac Systems Inc., a vehicle tracking service. Terms were not disclosed. PacTel said the acquisition makes it the first regional telephone holding company to enter a new information services line of business in the United States since a ban prohibiting such activities was removed last October. The ban was imposed on the regional companies as part of the 1984 breakup of the Bell system.
