Simi Valley officials will conduct public meetings today and Thursday to inform residents and property owners about the city’s plans to widen and reconstruct part of 1st Street.

The meetings will begin at 10 a.m. in the City Hall Community Room, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

The city plans to reconstruct 1st Street from a point 290 feet south of Los Angeles Avenue to the Simi Valley Freeway. The work is expected to begin in early July and be completed by the end of November.

The project will involve widening the road from four to six lanes and upgrading a traffic signal at Cochran Street. First Street’s intersections with Cochran and Easy streets will also be widened and improved.
