PANORAMA CITY : Woman Admits Joining Income Tax Fraud Scheme
A Panorama City woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to participating in a tax fraud conspiracy involving six other people and false claims totaling more than $86,000.
Marsha Ervin, 34, is the seventh person to plead guilty in the federal case.
She admitted to allowing her name and Social Security number to be used to prepare a false tax return for which she received a refund check of more than $12,000. Ervin cashed the check and divided the money among the other conspirators, prosecutors said.
Michael G. Sprauge Sr. of Van Nuys, who previously pleaded guilty, admitted to organizing the scheme and recruiting others to participate.
