Broadway’s Boom: Broadway ticket sales set a record during 1991-92, climbing to nearly $292 million, according to the League of American Theaters and Producers (the previous record was $283 million, in 1989-90). But yearly attendance figures were only slightly higher--with 7.35 million people seeing a Broadway show during the 1991-92 season, compared to 7.16 million the previous year. Although the season started slowly, the full number of productions, at 37, was the highest in five years.
