VENTURA : Corporate Games to Feature Chutists

Trailing clouds of colored smoke, the U. S. Navy’s Leap Frogs Parachute Team will jump today from two miles above the San Buenaventura State Beach.

The jump is part of the activity in the final day of a five-week corporate challenge involving more than 4,500 employees of 49 companies based in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. They have been competing in 17 individual and team sports.

Spectators are invited to watch the remaining running events and volleyball competition at the beach. And dog owners can enter their canine friends free of charge in the 1992 Canine Frisbee Championships, to be held at 9 a.m.

Festivities beginning at 8:30 a.m. include live music by the Tommy Alvarado and Gil Valencia bands. There will also be food booths, jugglers and clowns, chain saw wood carving, a car show and a 50-ton sculpture created by Sand Sculptors International of Redondo Beach.

The parachute jump will take place at 1 p.m. Team and individual awards will be presented during the closing ceremonies at 5 p.m. A portion of the company registration fess will be donated to local charities.
