Oxnard : Man Indicted in Father’s Death

The Ventura County grand jury has indicted a 31-year-old Oxnard man in the slaying of his father, authorities said Friday.
Jesus Gonzales Garcia Jr. allegedly stabbed his 51-year-old father with a large kitchen knife while he slept on the living room couch, Deputy Dist. Atty. Carol Nelson said.
Garcia surrendered to police at the scene on May 25, Nelson said. As he was taken into custody, he told officers he was responsible but did not explain why he had stabbed his father, Oxnard Police Detective Dan Christian said.
“It seems to be pretty motiveless at this point,” Nelson said.
Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned June 19, and could face up to life imprisonment if convicted, Nelson said.
