The drivers of two vehicles that collided in an Oxnard intersection during the weekend were both arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said Sunday.

The collision took place about 6:25 p.m. Saturday at Bard Road and San Juan Avenue, said Oxnard Police Officer Mike Trotter.

The car driven by Gerald Moore, 29, of Camarillo collided with a pickup truck, Trotter said.

Police did not release the name of the second driver.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the crash, Trotter said, but further investigation led police to suspect that the man had been drinking. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Trotter said.

Moore and passenger Jose Bastidas, 31, of Oxnard were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where both men were treated for injuries.

Bastidas was listed in serious condition Sunday, a nursing supervisor said.

Although Moore suffered head cuts in the crash and complained of pain in his chest and right arm, he was not admitted to the hospital.

After being examined and released, Moore was also arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and booked into Ventura County Jail, Trotter said.

Moore was released Sunday on his own recognizance, said Sgt. Robert Sparks of the county Sheriff’s Department.
