Speaking of English: “Murphy Brown” creator Diane English has been named a winner of the June Women’s Choice award by the Capitol Hill Women’s Political Caucus in Murphy’s very own city, Washington. Chairs Laura Epstein and Liz Ryan said: “Ms. English’s fictional character touched a chord in the women of this country. When people criticized the character’s decision to have a baby alone, women around America were reminded that some would take away their right to have an abortion, yet criticize and judge them if they choose to have a child alone.” The awards go to individuals who help improve the lives of women.
