Police were investigating reports Wednesday that two 14-year-old girls may have been raped in an Oxnard apartment after an all-day drinking party with a number of students who had cut class together, authorities said.
One of the girls, both students at Channel Islands High School, told police on Tuesday that she had been raped, Oxnard Police Department Detective Doug Wiley said. The other girl said she was uncertain because of the amount of alcohol they had consumed.
“It seems to have started out as a fun truant party and there was just too much booze,” Detective Ed Neitzel said.
The girls told officers who responded to a distress call that two or three male juveniles might have raped them sometime between 3 and 4 p.m., Wiley said.
After receiving the results of medical examinations, police decided to conduct further investigations and interview suspects and others who were at the party on Wednesday, Neitzel said.
“There were probably several kids in and out of the apartment during the first part of the afternoon, so part of the investigation is trying to track down and talk to the other kids who were there,” Neitzel said.
